Review: Game Of Thrones By: George R.R. Martin

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"When you play the game of thrones, you win or die"
This is an amazing book, epic in a sense.
Welcome to the world of the Seven Kingdoms, filled with deceit, fabled animals, the Others in The Haunted Forest, death, survival, and amazing characters. Written in third person but each chapter written in different main characters the book flows fluidly.
The King has come to Winterfell appointing his new Hand, the Long Summer is ending, and everyone is looking to take over the Throne. There is no trust and as Kings Landing has as many secret tunnels there are more secrets and motives to uncover. Like chess pieces moving across the board, each character brings forth this "game of thrones" bringing with them kidnapping, murder, destruction to the buildup of war.
The book ends with the reader wanting more and thankfully there is.
If I could give this novel more than 5 stars I would. I was taken into another place and time, into the minds of such well written third dementional characters that are still stuck in my mind. From description to style Mr. Martin has outdone himself.
