Review: The Selection By: Kiera Cass

The Selection (The Selection, #1)The Selection by Kiera Cass
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After WWIV a new country, formally ASC, has developed a monarchy and an unique selection of the new princess is in action. A political and social commentary on the future - living within castes, what each means, therebels and difference between them - all wrapped into an interesting story surrounding America Singer.

America was born into a caste that is to involved the arts, it is not the poorest of castes, but niether is it in the upper class. When the selection notice arrives at the house, the Singer family know that this could be their way out, a possibility for more, but America fears it because she is in love with someone lower than her, Aspen.

Thirty five girls have been selected, America stands out as Prince Maxon has to make a match from one of the chosen. A growing respect, fondness, and even love develops between them, but once Aspen is drafted and stationed to protect the royals old feelings are thrown back into the picture.

Great developed characters, from the main to the secondary, the reader develops a relationship with the contestants. The book leaves off with a continuation leaving me wanting - if America doesn't want the Prince, I do.
